Explanation of the title :

This is Karey, a character from my online comics Heredity. If you already have read this comics you probably know that it takes place in a far future, on another planet. It's a sort of space opera thingie.

But the very first Heredity scenario was not a pure sci-fi story. First, it wasn't called Heredity (it had no title, actually ;D.) It was taking place in a kind of indian background, with eventually a hint of fantasy. In this first version, there were only Karey, his mother Chandri, and Tarik, the other characters hadn't been invented yet (not even Kali.) Karey was a prince a Tarik his servant. Chandri was an horrible tyran as she is in the final version.

I don't remember how it turned into a sci-fi project, because this version is already ten years old and I've written several other versions after that. But the indian influence remains, in some aspects of the newer scenario, such as the name of several characters, and the arrival of Kali (but as I said before, she wasn't featured in the true indian version.)

I suddenly felt the urge to draw Karey as he was in the very first version, so here it is. While I was coloring it, I even invented a whole mini-story related to this picture... but of course I will NEVER have the time to draw it ;__;.

Influence :

This pic's atmosphere is highly inspired by a scene in the second Indiana Jones movie, the temple of Doom. This movie is one of my favourite, and I especially love the moment when Indiana Jones and his crew are invited in the indian palace. (Except when they get to eat eye's soup, surprise snake and other disgusting stuff such as monkey's brain sorbet XD) . I was young when I saw this movie and this part of the film really impressed me. The building, the colors, the decorations, the costumes... (and of course, I had a crush for Harrison Ford .)
Thinking of it, the very beginning of my own project is probably related to this movie and its atmosphere. There's also Kali in it, even if it's not the reason why I put a "Kali" in my story too.

Also used : many sort of brushes, a tiny bit of Terragen, some photomanip, free textures, many reference photos (including screenshots of Indiana Jones movies, of course ;D.)

I spent hours on this and honestly I don't think the result is really worth the time it took. But I'm happy to have finish a drawing at least. It's bee an long time since I hadn't submit anything :/...
